1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Dex ("Dex," "the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are a parent or guardian agreeing on behalf of a child, you represent that you have the authority to do so. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Dex is an AI-powered math tutoring application for children. The App provides interactive math lessons, practice problems, and progress tracking. A parent web dashboard is available for monitoring your child's learning.

3. Eligibility

Dex is designed for children under the supervision of a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian must create the account and provide consent before a child can use the App, in compliance with COPPA.

4. Accounts

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your parent PIN and email address.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must provide accurate information during setup.
  • You may delete your account at any time through the App or web dashboard.

5. Subscriptions & Billing

Dex offers free and paid subscription tiers.

  • Free tier: up to 5 problems per day, up to 5 minutes per problem, 1 child profile, and the PIN-protected Parent tab with basic progress.
  • Paid tier: unlimited problems and session time, multiple child profiles on one account, detailed analytics (skill breakdown, trends, grade assessment), and session replays.
  • Subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account.
  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.
  • No refunds are provided for partial subscription periods.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, modify, or tamper with the App.
  • Use the App to transmit harmful, abusive, or inappropriate content.
  • Attempt to access another user's data.
  • Use automated systems to interact with the App (bots, scrapers, etc.).

7. AI-Generated Content

Dex uses AI (powered by Anthropic's Claude, with Google Gemini as a backup) to provide tutoring. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated responses may occasionally contain errors. The App is intended as a supplemental learning tool and should not replace formal education or professional instruction.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, design, and technology in Dex are owned by Dex Math Tutor and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works from the App without our written permission.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dex shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms. You may terminate your account at any time by deleting your data through the App or web dashboard. Upon termination, all associated data will be permanently deleted.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the state in which Dex Math Tutor operates.
